Welcome to the University of East London. Congratulations on all you have achieved and in securing your place at the University of East London. We are delighted that you have chosen to invest in your future with us and I look forward to welcoming you to our community.

Our University's unique careers-1st approach, important partnerships with leading employers and dedicated student support are designed to support you into careers in a changing economy where you will flourish and thrive. We are committed to support you in achieving a flying start in your career and in your life goals. Our ground-breaking careers-1st curriculum – including the award-winning 'Developing Mental Wealth & Professional Fitness' modules at every level - is delivered through our innovative teaching framework - Technology Enabled Active Learning (TEAL), to deliver an applied, engaging, in-person, flexible learning experience.

At the University of East London, we have a range of dedicated academic support to help you achieve your full potential, including personal academic advisors and academic tutoring, and our free assignment-checking service, MyFeedback. Your digital gateway to the University can be accessed through Track My Future, which curates valuable services and information. This includes our unique Student Engagement Dashboard and, new from September, the Career Engagement Dashboard, putting the power of data in your hands.

As well as dedicating yourself to excelling in your studies, it's time to get career-ready right from the start of your UEL experience. Our dedicated Career Zone is here to support you every step of the way – from developing the skills and experience that employers want to creating a stand-out CV and introducing you to employers. Access the online platform or drop into one of the Career Zone Spaces on each of our three campuses.

There's a lot to look forward to in this academic year, including a calendar of social events, sporting activities and opportunities to enjoy hobbies and find new interests. Supported by Timetable Plus – our unique timetabling system that not only embeds all in-person learning events, but also allows you to manage your time so you can make the most of opportunities outside of the classroom such as events, activities, clubs and societies, designed to help you to further develop your academic and personal skills and enjoy a fulfilling university experience.

You are joining a thriving and vibrant community on campus. You will find that the friendly and diverse nature of campus life is shared by the community at large. We're here to support and guide you every step of the way. Our Student Wellbeing Service has got a range of tools and resources for you to access. As part of our commitment to your wellbeing and the wellbeing of our wider community, we ask that everyone commits to the UEL Community Wellness Pledge.

On our campuses your will find we have a wide range of services devoted to enhancing your studies, career development, social life and wellbeing. You will have access to libraries, computing facilities, welfare, advice and many social and sporting facilities. The Students' Union at the University also aims to help you love your time at UEL, to help you make friends and discover new activities and to represent your academic interests to the University.

We want you to hit the ground running when you enrol with us. Whether you're an undergraduate or postgraduate, your Welcome and Orientation Handbook is designed to help you settle into your studies and life on campus as soon as possible by providing you with a range of important and interesting information. So please do make sure you read this document and keep it safe.
