Welcome to East London Sport
We are the most ambitious and the most improved university in the UK for sport and we pride ourselves on being able to provide a wide-ranging programme of sporting, health and fitness opportunities for staff, students and the wider community.
In 2010, the University of East London was ranked 124th in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league – the National Governing Body for University Sport. With only a handful of teams and no medallists, East London Sport was created. Since then we have won the BUCS Most Improved University for Sports, and increased our ranking 81 positions in the BUCS ranking. We have also helped support many Olympians and Paralympians, 34 teams across a wide range of sports and 500+ active students.
We aim to create an environment that enables you to flourish, and we have an endless number of activities for you to get involved in. Whether you are an aspiring Olympian or Paralympian who is looking for high performance support, a keen gym goer who wants to access to our world-class facilities at SportsDock or someone who is looking to start their journey with Move East London, the East London Sport team have something to offer you.
Finally, we are now setting out to build on our reputation and extend the impact of sport for all our students, staff and stakeholders, the university itself, and our regional, national, and international partners with our Global Sports Strategy.
East London Sport Talent Pathway (ELSTP)
East London Sport have been commissioned by Sport England to implement a unique, ground-breaking talent identification and development program in East London, aiming to re-balance the demography of talent pathways.

SportsDock
Our world-class facilities and electrifying atmosphere at our weekly fixtures are one of the many reasons we’re a leading university for sports in London. Available to students, staff, the local community, and national and international organisations.
As a testament to the quality of the centre, SportsDock was used as the training Hub for Team USA, during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
SportsDock features:
- two multi-purpose indoor sports arenas
- 120-piece fitness centre
- fully equipped strength and conditioning room
- dance and aerobics studios
- sports therapy clinic
- conferencing and meeting rooms, lecture theatres and teaching rooms
- outdoor pitches
