    The aims of this module are: 

    1. To introduce current techniques, materials, concerns and possibilities in landscape architecture

    2. To provide a basis from which students can understand the ethical, theoretical and social framework in which landscape architecture operates

    3. To engage with landscape practitioners and their design practices

    4. To introduce and explore these themes through written, oral and visual representation

    Landscape Architecture: Foundations of Theory Practice & Professional Life (Mental Wealth)

    The aims of this module are: 

    1. To introduce the origins of key themes and practices in landscape architecture

    2. To consider current practices, cultural and historic precedents

    3. To engage with landscape practitioners and live projects

    4. To introduce professional life & landscape architecture as a professional discipline

    5. To introduce and explore these themes through written, oral and visual representation

    Landscape Architecture: Basic Tools & Principles of Design

    The aims of this module are:

    1. Begin to apply key themes in landscape architecture on small sites, and as small interventions on larger sites.

    2. Consider how landscape design can express concepts and respond to functional requirements.

    3. To introduce current material concerns and creative possibilities in small landscape interventions.

    4. Participate in elements of 'live' design and construction, led by qualified practitioners.

    5. Survey sites, generate ideas, gather context information relevant to design development and represent work at a variety of scales using different techniques.

    Landscape Architecture: Essential Tools & Principles of Design

    The aims of this module are: 

    1. Begin to apply key contemporary themes in landscape architecture on larger sites and in landscape masterplans.

    2. Consider how landscape design practice is influenced by technologies, processes and theories.

    3. Introduce current material concerns and creative possibilities in landscape architecture on larger sites circa 1 km2 -5km2.

    4. Participate in elements of 'live' design and construction, led by qualified practitioners.

    5. Develop a design brief and explore the  module themes through a major design project, working at a variety of scales through to detailed design.
