About us
Nursing at UEL has excellent partnerships across the North East London networks, including the Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, this has recently grown to incorporate Barts Health, the Homerton NHS foundation Trust, NELFT and ELFT, and a partnership through the East London Health Care partnership for primary care. You'll complete invaluable placements in these local hospitals and clinics where you'll apply your knowledge to real situations.
We're proud to have been shortlisted in four categories at the 2020 Student Nursing Times Awards. The University has made the shortlist for Nursing Associate Training Programme Provider of Year, Partnership of the Year and Teaching Innovation of the Year. Nursing students Luul Abdirisak Ali and Martin Gayle have both been shortlisted for the Mary Seacole Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion.

We have various pathways to suit a range of career aspirations and entry levels. Our Get Into Nursing short course is perfect for those that don't have the right qualifications, but have relevant work experience in care and an interest in a nursing career.
BSc Nursing (Adult) students starting from September 2020 are eligible to apply for a £5,000 a year training grant from the NHS. For further information visit the .gov.uk website or contact Student Finance England.
Our facilities
Clinical training facilities
Based at Stratford Campus, our Centre for Clinical Education provides clinical training facilities in nursing, with industry standard equipment and four large dedicated practical teaching rooms all with integrated Audio Visual displays. Students constantly report their satisfaction with the practical facilities and how much they enjoy learning in this environment.
Simulation Centre
Our new £250,000 Simulation Centre boasts cutting-edge tools including 'Stan', a high-tech patient simulator mannequin. UEL hopes the new nursing course will help address the acute shortage of nurses in east London and the aim is to train local people for local jobs.

What we're researching
Our research in the area of Allied Health Professions (Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy) was a big winner in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework - the six-yearly national review of research quality in higher education. An expert panel rated 67 per cent of our research as 'internationally excellent' and 19 per cent of it as 'world-leading' - the highest possible accolade.
Our research into public health links in with UEL's internationally-renowned Institute for Connected Communities (ICC), which regularly carries out research across the UK and also overseas. The ICC has been heavily involved in more than 50 significant projects since its foundation in 2006. UEL staff and students have researched into and developed programmes to improve health and wellbeing, particularly in some of London's poorest communities.
We're making a major contribution to evidence-based rehabilitation through our work with the Human Motor Performance Research Group (HMPG). This brings together a multi-disciplinary team of clinical scientists with backgrounds in physiotherapy, podiatry, neuroscience, biomechanical research, sports science and sociology.

Nurses are in high demand across the UK and abroad. With all of our pathways you could go on to work within the NHS or in private practice as a registered Nurse or Nursing Associate. The ultimate aim of our courses is to prepare you for a rewarding and inspiring career. The clinical placement hours help prepare you for the world of work upon graduation and help you develop your interpersonal skills.
