Never not a community

Hero Carousel

students with hands uniting and wristbands

We are rooted in East London and have a uniquely diverse and inclusive community drawn from the area and across the world.

Never not a community

East London is our home but we're also well connected to the rest of the capital and the world. Our Docklands campus is located by a DLR station and London City Airport is just over the river.  You can connect to the Elizabeth Line at Custom House and be in central London within minutes. At Stratford, we're a 10 minute walk from Stratford station - a major transport hub for London and the whole of the UK.

London is moving East

Opportunities everywhere

The Olympic Park revolutionised the East End. New businesses are flooding to the Docklands. Disruptive start-ups thrive at Silicon Roundabout in Shoreditch: London truly is moving East.

You'll find our main campus by the Royal Albert Dock, which is London’s most exciting regeneration project – we're literally watching the area evolve around us. Global businesses are making the area their base and experts here have a growing reputation for their tech developments.

We are at the heart of the area's regeneration - working with local industries, connecting with businesses and giving our students the chance to meet employers, find industry placements and to make an impression.

Never not shoulder to shoulder

A truly inclusive community

Everyone fits in at the University of East London.

Students, academics, researchers and industry experts are attracted by our unique campuses in this fantastic part of London. We embrace diversity - our community has over 17,000 students from 147 different countries.

When you step onto our campuses, you never know who you might meet or what stories they'll share. Diverse, creative and unique. That's how we describe our global community. No matter where you're from or who you are, you'll feel at home at the University of East London.

We've collected amazing human stories from our East London community.

A unique London campus

Unlike most London universities, we have a self-contained and well-connected campus in Docklands with riverside accommodation for our students. Our Stratford campus and the nearby teaching site at University Square Stratford (USS) are full of state-of-the-art teaching facilities, including Psychology and Bioscience labs, libraries and computer suites.

World-class facilities

From bars to accommodation, we've invested £170 million in our facilities. Including a childcare centre for students and staff with families and our £21 million sports facility, SportsDock.

Rooted in east London, we are deeply connected to our local community - many of our students hail from the local area, our graduates often go on to work in east London, and we encourage volunteering and community work at every opportunity.

£170 million invested in our facilities

Our award-winning OLIve course was set up to give refugees and asylum seekers in London the chance to access education. The Legal Advice Centre at UEL does valuable work in the community by giving local residents free legal advice. Many of our alumni have made a mark since graduating too; Abdal Ahmed works tirelessly to organise sporting events for local children, and Martine Wright is a renowned charity ambassador and motivational speaker, as well as a successful Paralympian.

East London celebrates creativity, from street murals to disruptive art galleries

If good nightlife is important to you, east London is tough to beat. The streets of Shoreditch are lined with unique places to go, and Hackney Wick is full of venues, restaurants and bars in converted warehouses. Walk up Kingsland Road in Dalston to find leftfield music venues and some of the best Turkish food around.

Connecting with nature boosts your mental health, and east London is great for outdoor activities too: Mudchute Park and Farm is a 32-acre site dedicated to biodiversity, and the Hackney Marshes are known as the spiritual home of England's Sunday League football.
