Alex is the founding director of ScottWhitbyStudio, an award winning architecture and urban design practice based in the London. As senior lecturer in architecture at the University of East London, Alex has taught within the postgraduate courses and is now teaching on the school's flagship BA (Hons) RIBA Part 1 programme.
OVERVIEW
Alex leads Architecture and Physical Design. As a Senior Lecturer in architecture at the University of East London, Alex has taught both within the postgraduate course and is now the programme leader for the school's flagship BA (Hons) ARB/RIBA Part 1 Course.
Alex teaches in a 2nd and 3rd year design studio in the undergraduate school, as well as organising external lectures and the annual UEL/British Land and Sir Robert McAlpine Broadgate competition.
CURRENT RESEARCH
Alex is the founding director of ScottWhitbyStudio, an award winning architecture and urban design practice based in the London. His work and the work of his studio has won numerous awards both nationally and internationally. He previously taught at the Architectural Association and The Welsh School of Architecture, and is currently visiting professor of Conservation and Restoration at Berlin International University of Applied Science. His particular research expertise focuses on the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. Finding new ways to reinvigorate them for 21st century use.
